RESEARCH
Breathwork is generally safe when practiced correctly and under the guidance of a trained facilitator or coach.
As a certified Elemental Rhythm facilitator, I want to share potential outcomes and extreme scenarios to ensure everyone is informed. If you have ANY concerns or questions, please consult with a healthcare practitioner or doctor.
In my experience, I have never witnessed or heard of anyone being injured or experiencing serious issues from breathwork.
External literature strongly supports this. A 2013 report documented the outcomes of 11,000 individuals participating in intense holotropic breathwork sessions over 12 years, with no reported negative effects. Breathwork is considered a low-risk modality with observed benefits and no adverse reactions reported.
Furthermore, there are NO documented cases in research or literature of incidents such as strokes or heart attacks occurring from breathwork.
Advanced Breathwork can evoke intense emotions and physical releases, making it unsuitable for some individuals diagnosed with Bipolar or Schizophrenia. Always consult your doctor before starting any breathing practice.
Additionally, never practice breathwork in water due to the risk of lightheadedness or loss of consciousness. This can pose serious safety concerns, especially when engaged in activities like driving, operating machinery, or swimming.
Before beginning any breathwork practice, it's essential to understand potential side effects to ensure a safe and positive experience.
