A rhythmic movement or sound is repeated at regular intervals, forming a regular pattern or beat.
breathe
VERB
When people or animals breathe, they take air into their lungs and let it out again.
Elemental Rhythm is a beautiful and powerful modality that guides students through rhythmic breathing techniques associated with the earth elements: Earth, Air, Water, Fire and Ether breath. Each elemental breath is synchronized with music to optimize diaphragmatic engagement and expression, facilitating the activation of the diaphragm, massaging the vagus nerve, and supporting the reset of the entire central nervous system.
BENEFITS OF BREATHWORK
Breathwork is an incredibly powerful practice that involves consciously controlling your breath to experience relaxation, release emotional blockages, and enhance overall well-being. Many people have powerful breakthroughs after participating in their very first session.
People around the world have been practicing conscious breathing for thousands of years — a true testament to its safety and effectiveness! — but those new to the practice usually have questions around what to expect during a session, and what potential side effects they may experience.
PREPARING FOR GUIDED BREATHWORK
- Choose a calm, quiet space where you can focus on your breathwork practice without distractions. Avoid extreme temperatures or unsafe environments for your practice.
- Before starting, take a moment to set an intention. This can be a goal like relaxation, emotional release, or self-exploration. Setting an intention guides your experience and adds purpose.
- If practicing at home, inform others that you'll be in a session and request privacy. Silence your phone and dim lights. Consider using an eye mask to block light and distractions, creating an ideal space for immersion.
- Stay hydrated by drinking water before your session, as breathwork can be energizing. Avoid heavy meals beforehand to prevent discomfort during breathing exercises.
- Wear loose, comfortable clothing for unrestricted movement and deep breathing.
- Lie on a comfortable yoga mat with a pillow nearby, and keep a blanket handy for temperature adjustments.
- Approach your session with an open, curious mindset. Release expectations and embrace whatever arises during the practice. Trust in the process!
